Parts:

  • M3×5×4 brass heat-set insert ×2 · Fasteners, Tools & Misc box
  • [a]_tensioner_left ×1 · bin 04-B
  • [a]_tensioner_right ×1 · bin 04-A
  • soldering iron with the M3 insert tip · tool

Do: Each tension arm has one through-bore stepping from 3.5 mm to 4.7 mm. Press the insert into the 4.7 mm end, the wider opening. The 3.5 mm section is the M3×40's clearance and must stay clear.

Check

Pushed in by hand from the plain 3.5 mm end, an M3×40 SHCS runs free and picks up thread only at the insert.

What you're looking at

Manual p.64 and the two blue tension arms: levers carrying each front idler's bearing stack, drawn forward to tension a belt. Each is a C: top boss counterbored for the M5×40 head, foot with the M5 nut pocket, back wall with one stepped bore.
