Voron 2.4 350 — build manual

This is the single track for building an LDO Voron 2.4 R2 Rev D+, 350 mm, blue (Fabreeko F6424626) — the official Voron and Stealthburner manuals, the LDO Rev D guides and the Rev D+ corrections consolidated into one Prusa-style set of numbered steps.

Every printed part is made here, on a Prusa Core One+ on Gen 1 GT2 belts (the Gen 2 belt upgrade is deferred to the INDX rebuild this winter), in Prusament ASA Galaxy Black with a Prusament ASA Blue accent: 22 plates, 157.0 h, 1813 g black + 279 g blue — see Plate plans for every diagram at a glance.

Begin with the pre-B00 checks — a belt pluck check and a hot first-layer check, both on the current Gen 1 belts — and until then with slicer setup and the (pre-kit) steps of Ch 00 — the home page lists the order. The Voron kit is not expected until late November to late December 2026, so all eleven print batches — 22 plates, the whole 157.0 h — go down before it arrives, and Ch 00 — Before you start opens the day the cartons land with every bin already full.

Keep two pages open at the bench: Tonight, a fresh 30/60/90-minute session planner built from every chapter's Time: and Pause: lines and every plate's print time, for deciding what fits in the time you have — including "start plate X, then …" when the printer is free; and the print pages — checklists and bin labels with QR codes — for the garage bench where a tablet doesn't survive.

The timeline

Rows are in execution order. Do a row only when its needs are satisfied; do the While it prints work in the same sitting so the Core One+ is never idle and no chapter waits on a part.

Markers: KIT = needs the Voron kit to have arrived · 2P = two people · 2P lift = the gantry lift, genuinely two people. Batches are B00–B10; plates are B00-P1 too (two-digit batch, plate number unpadded).

The whole run prints before the kit. Rows 1–13 cover the pre-B00 checks and every batch in numeric order, B00 → B10 (row 3 is Ch 00a): 157.0 h ≈ 16 printer-days ≈ 3–4 weeks at two plate swaps a day. The bench work under them is Ch 00a and Ch 00's own pre-kit steps (00.23–00.32: the manual's front matter, the measurement log, the Discord questions — marked (pre-kit) so Tonight offers them), plus reading a chapter and sorting a batch into its bins as each plate comes off. Rows 14–31 are the build, and not one of them waits for a plate.

Rows 32–33 are B11, the bay ducting, appended rather than renumbered: 5 plates of PETG V0, 25.0 h, outside the run and its 157.0 h. They are not in execution order. Row 32 needs nothing measured and prints any time after row 13, including while the build rows run; row 33 waits for the kit-day bay measurements and must be off the bed before Ch 09 (row 24) fits the ducts; the A/B lead check after Checkpoint 06 only decides whether a longer replacement lead is made before Ch 10.

  • 1 · Both — Gen 2 joints and wiper, then pre-B00 checks, Gen 1 belts · ~3 h · needs: the Gen 2 kit on the shelf
    • While it prints: Nothing prints yet. Open the first black spool into the USS drybox, read 00-slicer-setup, confirm the sheet and glue

    • While it prints: Ch 00–08 build rows
    • Gate: none from the A/B leads — P4 and P5 print either way, a short lead gets a longer replacement lead instead; B11-P5 only if the Leviathan-to-PSU gap is ≥ 25 mm
    • Sessions: 2 plate starts

Row 1, and why the whole run stays on Gen 1. The Gen 2 belt upgrade (Prusa order 1787919456, shipped) is deferred to this winter, done together with the INDX 8-tool conversion — Prusa documents the combined install (https://help.prusa3d.com/article/assemblling-the-prusa-indx-core-one-with-the-gen-2-upgrade_1147602). The printer is commissioned and printing well, the upgrade fixes neither open issue on the bench (loadcell/heater noise, PETG infill strands), and a heatbed swap now would put the closed bed calibration at risk and force a belt retune, XY-homing recal and a start-G-code re-sync of all 22 3MFs — one teardown instead of two. Row 1's two checks (belt pluck, hot first layer) confirm the machine is fit to carry the whole 157.0 h run. Revised 2026-10-01: the kit's expansion joints and nozzle wiper are fitted before those checks, and only the GT1.5 belts wait for INDX (correction #34).

Dependencies inside B02. The accent day prints once, but its plates are consumed at five different times: B02-P1 + B02-P3 gate Ch 02 (Z drive baseplates, belt tensioners, Z tensioners); the cable bridge and endstop pod off P3 go to Ch 05; the Stealthburner accent parts off P1 and P3 go to Ch 08; B02-P2 gates Ch 04 (A/B tensioners); the Z belt clips and chain retainers gate Ch 06 Part A; and the belt guards, fan grills, keystone blank, TFT faceplate and door Handle are not needed until Ch 11.

Critical path

Print time 157.0 h across 22 plates in 11 batches (1813 g black, 279 g blue) — all of it before kit day, B00 → B10 in numeric order
Hands-on time 59.9 h — the sum of the chapter Time midpoints (Ch 06b's ~1 h cold squaring pass is on top of Ch 06's figure)
Printing, elapsed ~16 printer-days ≈ 3–4 weeks, all of it before kit day (swap-limited, ~10 print-hours/day; the floor is ~7 days if you change plates the minute each one ends)
Building, elapsed ~2.7 weeks ≈ 3 weeks at 22 h/week
(a) After the Prusa is running ≈ 3–4 calendar weeks of printing — the pre-B00 checks, then 22 plates back to back on Gen 1. Starting early/mid October puts the last plate off the bed early/mid November, two to six weeks ahead of the kit
(b) After the kit arrives ≈ 3 calendar weeks — 59.9 h hands-on at 22 h/week with every bin already full: no chapter waits on a plate, and Gate B's bearing press and MGN12 rail check are the only print-side jobs left on kit day

≈ 146 sessions of ~30 min — the sum of every assembly chapter's Sessions: line (Ch 00, 00a–14, 06b and both parts of 11 and 12 counted once each) — plus 22 plate starts of ~5 min each and the inspect passes after each batch.

Assumptions: 22 h/week of hands-on (2 h on each of five weekdays, 6 h on each of two weekend days), the Core One+ printing unattended overnight with about two plate swaps a day, no reprints beyond the plan's 24 % filament margin, the whole run staying on Gen 1 belts (the Gen 2 upgrade deferred to the INDX rebuild), and the kit landing between 2026-11-20 and 2026-12-24 — after the last plate is off the bed.

Every step ends with a Source: line naming the exact manual page, LDO doc or print-plan section it was transcribed from, pinned to a specific commit for GitHub-hosted files so the link doesn't drift under you. If a step's text and its Source line disagree, or the source itself looks wrong, file a correction with the correction issue template rather than editing the step from memory.

Corrections log

What the kit actually is, where it differs from the published documents, and which chapter holds the detail. This is the list to re-check whenever LDO updates its docs.

To add a row: append it with the next #, today's date, and fill "Source that was wrong" / "Verified against" only when the correction actually names them — otherwise leave — rather than guessing.

# Date Correction Source that was wrong Detail lives in Verified against
1 2026-09-05 Rev D+ = Nitehawk-SB V2. The difference is electrical apart from one printed part: the V2 repo's usb_adapter_mount_partial_cover.stl (it exposes a mounting point for the ground lug), not the V1 usb_adapter_mount.stl — Ch 09 Step 09.25; flagged in Ch 00; printed in B07 —
2 2026-09-05 The magnet sheet is user-applied, and its bolt holes are trimmed immediately after — not later — Ch 03 Step 03.9 —
3 2026-09-05 Both probes ship. Build the inductive one. Omron inductive for QGL, LDO nozzle probe for Z=0; the Klicky parts get printed (B06-P1 since row 25 merged the two B06 plates) and bagged — Ch 08 Step 08.54; config in Ch 12; printed in B06 —
4 2026-09-05 RETRACTED 2026-09-06. Originally: "DIN rails run left-to-right, per LDO — the official manual runs them front-to-back." The manual's own p.28–29 already show the rails left-to-right; manual and LDO agree, so there is no deviation (Ch 09 fix, review F5) This log (row 4 as first written) Ch 09 Step 09.5 manual p.28–29 page images
5 2026-09-05 Which Leviathan you have is contested: STM32F446 (V1.1/V1.2) or STM32H743 (V1.3). Processor, clock and bootloader offset all differ; settle it from the board, not from a document — Ch 12 Step 12.13 The physical board (STM32 marking), not a document
6 2026-09-05 The Nitehawk-SB V2 ESD grounding scheme shipped as three images with no prose until LDO's board doc was updated 2026-07-10. Treat grounding as a required build step LDO Nitehawk-SB V2 board doc (pre-2026-07-10, images only, no prose) Ch 10 Step 10.58; also Ch 08 LDO board doc, updated 2026-07-10
7 2026-09-05 Deck panel: 3 mm or 4 mm. LDO's guides say 4 mm, LDO's own BOM says 3 mm. Your caliper decides which deck_support_* you print LDO guides (4 mm) vs. LDO's own BOM (3 mm) — internally inconsistent Ch 02 Step 02.12; measured at Ch 00 Caliper measurement of your kit's deck panel
8 2026-09-05 PrusaSlicer shrinkage compensation and XY size compensation must both be zero. Voron parts are already drawn for ABS/ASA shrinkage; compensating again ruins every bearing fit — print/00-slicer-setup.md —
9 2026-09-05 Four GT2 20T 9 mm idlers are consumed in Ch 02 on the Z tensioners; the two XY joints need two more. Do not raid the bag early — Ch 02 Step 02.40; consumed again in Ch 05 —
10 2026-09-05 A = rear right, B = rear left, so the A idler is the front-right pair and the B idler the front-left pair. B03's plate captions had the pairing the wrong way round (fixed 2026-09-05; B03-P1 = A side = front_idler_right_*) B03 plate captions (this manual, pre-fix) Ch 04 Step 04.2; belt paths in Ch 07 Ch 04 Step 04.2 A/B convention
11 2026-09-05 power_inlet_IECGS_1mm prints in B07, not B08 — it is fitted in the electronics bay at manual p.156/167, not with the skirts. It needed its own plate B07-P3: with 3 mm brims it will not fit beside the eight COB mounts (84 % bed fill); row 25 moved it onto B07-P1 instead, so B07 is 2 plates. At the time B07 was 3 plates, and the build is 27 plates / 134.3 h at the time (re-estimated by slicing to 157.1 h, row 20) — Ch 09; B07 —
12 2026-09-05 625-2RS is the Z-drive bearing (16 mm OD); F695 is the A/B-drive, front-idler and XY-joint bearing (13 mm OD). Both are 5 mm bore, so you cannot sort them by bore. The B00 press-fit gate tests a 625-2RS seat — print/00-slicer-setup.md; B01, B03, Ch 00, Ch 02, Ch 04 —
13 2026-09-05 A/B motor pulleys are GT2 20T ×2 in the 6 mm width. The kit's four 9 mm 20T pulleys are all Z-drive parts — using one on an A/B motor steals a Z pulley and puts a 9 mm pulley in the 6 mm belt plane an F695 pair forms — Ch 04 Step 04.24; Z pulleys at Ch 02 —
14 2026-09-05 Bed extrusions: 130 mm is the clear gap between inner faces, i.e. 65 mm each side of the centreline and 150 mm centre-to-centre. Manual p.20's dimension lines land on the inner faces — Ch 01 Step 01.19; checked at Ch 03 Step 03.11 Ch 03 Step 03.11 build-plate fit check
15 2026-09-05 The rails are 400 mm, not the manual's 250-spec length. 9 M3×8 + T-nuts per MGN9 Y rail (holes 2, 4 … 18), 7 for the MGN12 X rail (holes 2, 4 … 14): every other hole from the second, both end holes open Official Voron 2.4r2 assembly manual (specifies 250 mm rails) Ch 05 Steps 05.10–05.12, 05.32–05.33; same rule at Ch 02 Hole count on the 400 mm rails as received
16 2026-09-05 Rails are cleaned and greased once, in Ch 00. Ch 02 only verifies; the DIN rails are installed once, in Ch 09 Step 09.5, and Ch 02 only stages their T-nuts — Ch 00 Steps 00.18–00.21, Ch 02 Steps 02.05 / 02.15, Ch 09 Step 09.5 —
17 2026-09-05 Printer preset is Prusa CORE One 0.4 nozzle — the CORE One family dropped the "Original" prefix, so a search for "Original Prusa CORE One" finds nothing. Superseded by #21: the HF0.4 variant is the preset in use — print/00-slicer-setup.md —
18 2026-09-05 Rotating a part about Z to fit the plate is allowed; changing which face sits on the bed is not. B08-P1 cannot be sliced without a 90° Z rotation of rear_center_skirt_350 (it stands front-to-back beside an unturned side_fan_support; as first written this row named the wrong part — corrected 2026-09-06 against the committed 3MF) This log (row 18 as first written) print/00-slicer-setup.md; B08 Step B08.2 slicer/plates/B08-P1.3mf mesh extents
19 2026-09-05 PrusaSlicer version posture: 2.9.6 for the dimension-critical batches (B00 gate, B01, B03–B06); the 3.0 preview is acceptable for B08–B10 with overrides re-entered by hand. Any toolchain change re-runs the B00 gate — print/00-slicer-setup.md —
20 2026-09-05 Print estimates now from PrusaSlicer 2.9.6 slices (were a throughput model). Totals moved to 27 plates, 157.1 h, 1813 g black + 279 g blue Throughput-model estimate (this manual, pre-fix) print/README.md Sliced .3mf project per plate (slicer/estimates.csv)
21 2026-09-05 HF 0.4 nozzle: slicer profiles use the Core One HF presets — Prusa CORE One HF0.4 nozzle printer preset and Prusament ASA @COREONE HF0.4 filament preset, both hotter and faster than their non-HF equivalents. In the GUI the project shows them as 0.20mm STRUCTURAL @COREONE 0.4 (modified) and Prusament ASA @COREONE HF0.4 - Voron black — print/00-slicer-setup.md Slic3r_PE.config inside every committed .3mf
22 2026-09-06 The B00 calibration gate is split. Three of its seven coupons (heat-set inserts, the MGN12 rail, the 625-2RS bearing) only arrive with the kit, so a pre-kit builder could never pass "all seven". Gate A (the cube) releases B02, B07 and — after the Gen 2 upgrade — B08–B10; Gate B (kit day) releases B01 and B03–B06. Pre-kit print order is B00 → B02 → B07 → (Gen 2) → B08 → B09 → B10. Superseded by #26 and #33: the whole run prints before kit day, in numeric order, on Gen 1 belts This manual and print plan §1.4, pre-fix ("only when all seven pass, start B01") print/00-slicer-setup.md; B00 Steps B00.5 / B00.7; print/README.md; this timeline Ch 00's insert count (kit-supplied, 153) and the B00 plate contents
23 2026-09-06 Ch 06b is cold; the hot soak moved to Ch 14. Timeline order is Ch 13 → Ch 06b (cold squaring, provisional tension) → Ch 11 Part B (panels) → Ch 14 (hot soak with the chamber closed, Z joints tightened hot, final tension, re-check). As first written 06b soaked a machine with no back, top or side panels This manual's timeline and Ch 06b Steps 06b.16–06b.18, pre-fix Ch 06b; Ch 14 Parts A–B; this timeline Voron gantry-squaring procedure (assumes a panelled machine, sides off) — review F7
24 2026-09-06 Each A/B belt is teeth-on at exactly one XY joint: A at the RIGHT joint's upper 20T, B at the LEFT joint's lower 20T; smooth-back on the other joint's F695 stack. A leaves the X carriage westward, rounds the LEFT joint's plain F695 stack smooth-back, wraps its own drive and front idler, and returns through the RIGHT joint on its upper 20T teeth-on; B mirrors it: first turn teeth-on the LEFT joint's lower 20T, return smooth-back on the RIGHT joint's lower F695 (manual p.105, p.131, p.135–138; Ch 07 Steps 07.16 / 07.17 / 07.23). Ch 07 intro and Step 07.23 Check, pre-fix ("smooth back on every plain stack") Ch 07 Steps 07.16 / 07.17 / 07.23 / 07.23; Ch 05 Step 05.29 Manual p.135 and p.138; Ch 05.29 — review F4
25 2026-09-06 Plates consolidated 27 → 22; same parts, same 157.1 h, fewer plate swaps. Same-batch merges only: B03-P1+P2 into one plate, B06-P1+P2 into one, B07-P3's power_inlet_IECGS_1mm onto B07-P1, and B08's six skirt plates re-packed on real outlines into four (B08-P6's mount.stl rides on B08-P3). Every merged plate was proved to fit at a 6 mm gap between silhouettes with its 3 mm brims. Batch hours are unchanged; black stays 1813 g, the sum of per-plate rounded grams (the raw sum is 1811.5 g) — print/README; print plan §3 slicer/nest.py packing + re-sliced slicer/plates/*.3mf (slicer/estimates.csv)
26 2026-09-14 The kit will not land before late November. Fabreeko's shipment-tracking page shows the V2.4/Trident batch still in manufacture in Shenzhen, LDO has serialized no batch since 2606 (June), the same SKU ran ~2 months late in 2025, and China→US ocean freight is 30–40 days: realistic delivery is 2026-11-20 to 2026-12-24. Three consequences — the whole 157.0 h run prints before kit day in numeric batch order; the Gen 2 belt upgrade goes in before B00 instead of mid-run; and Gate B runs early on two ordered 625-2RS and ten ordered inserts, with only its MGN12 rail check left for kit day. Gate B part superseded by #29 (nothing bought); Gen 2 part superseded by #33 (deferred to the INDX rebuild) This timeline and print plan §8, pre-fix (kit ETA within weeks; Gen 1 belts first, pause after B07) this timeline; print plan §8; 00-slicer-setup Fabreeko shipment-tracking page, 2026-09-14; LDO 350_BOM index (tops out at 2606)
27 2026-09-14 The accent colour is Prusament ASA Blue; Prusa Orange is superseded. A blue 800 g ASA spool arrived 2026-09-12 and is the accent for every [a]_ part; the blue accents now match the blue LDO frame and the blue Clicky-Clack door over the black body. The orange spool is the spare. Filenames and page slugs keep the old word (B02-accent-parts-orange.md); nothing else does This manual, pre-fix (Prusa Orange accent throughout) B02; print/README § Spool ledger; print/00-slicer-setup § Colour key The spool on the bench (exact colour name still to read off the label)
28 2026-09-14 All 22 committed projects carry the cold-probe start G-code. start_gcode in every slicer/plates/*.3mf and both .ini bundles is the block vendored at slicer/coreone-cold-start.gcode: nozzle at 0 °C through homing and the whole mesh, G29 P9 nozzle wipe removed. That is why the Plater's printer box always reads (modified), and it must never be reset to the system value. Nothing asks you to select the - coldstart preset first This manual, pre-fix (printer-box "(modified)" explained as a vendor-bundle drift) print/00-slicer-setup § Committed projects; B00 Step B00.0 Metadata/Slic3r_PE.config inside all 22 committed .3mf files
29 2026-09-14 Nothing is bought to bring Gate B forward, and its early rows are a caliper and seven KADRICK inserts. The 625-2RS bearing, the MGN12 rail and the LDO brass tip are all kit parts, so the bearing press and the rail slide are kit-day rows. The early bore row is a caliper against the STL nominal: z_drive_retainer_a's 625-2RS pocket is 16.30 mm and the A/B drive frames' F695 flange seats are 15.00 mm This manual and print plan §1.4, pre-fix ("two 625-2RS, ten inserts and the LDO tip kit are ordered") print/00-slicer-setup § Gate B; B00 Step B00.7; Ch 00 Step 00.9 Alex's ruling 2026-09-14; STL cylinder measurements on slicer/stl/
30 2026-09-14 There is no 8 mm shaft bore in z_joint_lower. The part's largest hole is 4.00 mm; what a caliper checks is its four M3 holes, 3.40 mm on a 15.0 × 16.0 mm pattern — the same pattern the xy_joint_*_MGN12 lowers carry. The "8 mm Z shaft slides, not presses" line was never true of this STL This manual's B05 chapter, print plan §5.2 and the timeline, pre-fix B05 Step B05.4; print plan §5.2 slicer/stl/voron2/STLs/Gantry/Z_Joints/z_joint_lower_x4.stl — every cylindrical face in the mesh
31 2026-09-14 The one invented abbreviation is spelled out. EM for extrusion multiplier is now written out at every use, and the glossary row is Extrusion multiplier / flow; Ellis' article title PA / EM Oddities keeps its own spelling. Community abbreviations (QGL, SHCS, SB, CW2, MCU, VFA …) stay, each with a glossary row. The index's KIT / 2P row markers stay too, defined in words at the head of § The timeline This manual Ch 14 Steps 14.19–14.21; Ch 16 — Glossary Full token audit: review/2026-09-14/acronym-audit.md
32 2026-09-14 Every printed part carries its plate id. Borrowed from Prusa's own kit practice: as a plate is sorted, its plate id and the date go on a face that will not show, in paint marker, beside the bin id. A reprint gets the new plate id with R after it, plus the extrusion multiplier if that changed, so any part can be traced back to the run and spool that made it — print/README § Bins; every batch's Sort into bins step —
33 2026-09-23 The Gen 2 belt upgrade is deferred to the INDX rebuild this winter; the whole 157.0 h run prints on Gen 1 GT2 belts. The upgrade kit shipped, but installs together with the INDX 8-tool conversion — Prusa documents the combined job. Row 1 becomes two pre-B00 checks on the current belts (a belt pluck check, a hot first-layer check at ASA bed temperature); row 14's mid-run contingency pause is retired outright. B08–B10's skirts print on GT2, with VFA accepted as cosmetic (Galaxy Black's fleck hides it). The general rule still holds: any toolchain change re-runs Gate A — now at the INDX + Gen 2 rebuild This manual, print plan §8, and every print chapter, pre-fix ("Gen 2 before B00" baseline and its 2026-10-15 contingency, both rows 25–26) this timeline row 1; print plan §8; 00-slicer-setup § Calibration sequence; B00 § Before B00 checks Prusa KB — assembling the INDX CORE One with the Gen 2 upgrade, https://help.prusa3d.com/article/assemblling-the-prusa-indx-core-one-with-the-gen-2-upgrade_1147602; Alex's ruling 2026-09-23
34 2026-10-01 The Gen 2 kit goes in in two parts: heatbed expansion joints and nozzle wiper before B00, GT1.5 belts at the INDX rebuild. The run still prints on Gen 1 GT2 belts. The two firmware switches are set one by one, never Edition = Gen 2, which would also set GT1.5 steps/mm. The heatbed comes off, so the bed is re-checked to ±0.1 mm before the hot first-layer check, and that check now runs on two start G-codes (cold, and heat-then-off) to pick the one the 22 plates carry This manual and print plan §8, pre-fix (all of Gen 2 deferred, #33; either pre-B00 check failing meant the full upgrade) this timeline row 1; print plan §8; 00-slicer-setup § Gen 2 belt upgrade; B00 § Before B00 checks Buddy 6.8.1 source (src/common/printer_variant/coreone.cpp, src/feature/nozzle_cleaner_lite); Alex's ruling 2026-10-01

How to update this manual

  1. Everything is markdown under docs/; one chapter per file, docs/manual/NN-slug.md, print batches in docs/manual/print/.
  2. Serve it to the iPad with ./scripts/serve.sh and read it at the bench on the LAN URL.
  3. Chapter format — header block, ### Step NN.M, Parts / Do / Check, ⚠ Rev D+ / LDO: callouts, Checkpoint, Common mistakes — is fixed by CONVENTIONS.md. Follow it exactly.
  4. A new correction goes in two places: the log above (one row, with the chapter link) and inline at the step it affects, as a ⚠ Rev D+ / LDO: callout. Never only in a preamble.
  5. docs/voron-print-plan.md and docs/voron-build-instructions-survey.md are the sources these chapters were written from — change them first when a fact moves, then the chapters, then this page.
