Do: G28, then QUAD_GANTRY_LEVEL. Let it complete cleanly. From here the machine stays homed and the Z motors stay holding. Voron step 2.
Check
QGL converges within its retry limit. A machine that cannot QGL cannot be squared by this procedure.
What you're looking at
G28 homes the machine. QUAD_GANTRY_LEVEL, or QGL, probes four points and drives the four Z motors independently until the gantry is parallel to the bed. QGL corrects height only: it cannot see racking, which is what the rest of this procedure fixes.
