gather Gather for this segment — steps 07.1–07.5 (~25 min)

Already on the bench

  • the two front-idler M3×40 SHCS
  • the two front-idler M3 washers

Parts: none.

Do:

  1. Confirm the gantry is on the Z joints and the Z belts are clamped, from Ch 06 Part A.
  2. Push the gantry through its full Y travel and the X carriage through its full X travel by hand.

check Check

No notchiness, no rising resistance at either end of travel, no carriage running off a rail. The X carriage coasts when pushed.

What you're looking at

The gate check. You have a gantry that slides freely in X and Y with nothing driving it. The two CoreXY belts are the last mechanical link, and they thread through six separate bearing stacks. Binding is far cheaper to find now.
