Step 00.30 — Start the measurement log¶
Step 30 of 32 pre-kit with a helper · Chapter 00 — Before you start
(no image — see text)
Gather for this segment — steps 00.30–00.32 (~20 min)
Tools and consumables
- notebook, or a shared note on the iPad
Parts:
- notebook, or a shared note on the iPad · tool
Do:
- Start a log with one line per measurement: what you measured, the number, the date, and the step it came from. Your daughter owns it.
- Four matter most, plus the date of the two gating questions.
Check
The log exists the week B00 prints, holding the flat-reference gap; the deck thickness and inventory result join on kit day.
Helper Rules the log columns and writes in each number you call out.
What you're looking at
A notebook. A handful of numbers in this build cannot be re-derived later: the deck panel thickness, the frame diagonals, the belt frequency, the probe accuracy sigma. Each one gates a decision several chapters downstream.
| Measurement | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| deck panel thickness | Step 00.4, on kit day; 3 mm was already printed in B01, and 4 mm means an 8 g reprint |
| frame diagonals | Ch 01 |
| belt frequency | Ch 07, and again in Ch 14 |
PROBE_ACCURACY sigma |
Ch 13 |
