Step 01.13 — Square the top square and lock it¶

Parts: none.
Do:
- Repeat on the top square: both diagonals, mallet.
- Before the torque pass, sight down the four verticals for lean and square the top inside corners.
- Tighten the 8 top joints fully in a diagonal pattern and re-measure.
Check
Top diagonals equal to each other and within a millimetre or so of the bottom pair.
Helper Reads both top diagonals aloud and says which one is longer.
What you're looking at
Manual p.21 again, applied to the top square. Both squares can be individually square and still be rotated relative to each other. That is a twisted frame, and it shows up later as a gantry that will not sit parallel to the bed.
