Parts:
- GT2 20-tooth idler ×1 · Motion box
- M5×40 SHCS ×1 · Fasteners, Tools & Misc box
Do: Drop the 20T idler into its pocket and run an M5×40 SHCS down through it. This bolt threads directly into plastic and only positions the idler.
Check
Idler spins under a fingernail flick with no drag and no wobble.
What you're looking at
The 20 T idler is a small toothed pulley running on its own bearing; the toothed side of the belt wraps it. Its M5×40 threads straight into plastic and only holds the idler in place, so it stops the instant the head seats.
Caution
Do not over-tighten. Stop the moment the head seats and the idler still spins freely; a crushed pocket here shows up as belt noise and premature wear in Ch 07.
Good stopping point · ~25 min since the last one
right XY joint fully built, bolted and its 20T idler fitted and spinning. Leave the left joint's parts bagged; do not part-build it.
