Parts: none.

Do: Push the X axis slowly end to end several times, a hand on each XY joint. A tight spot means a rail is not centred; rising stiffness means racking. Do not loosen rails to fix it.

check Check

Full travel both directions, no notch, no rising resistance, both Y carriages moving together. Racking is normal and is corrected in Ch 06.

helperHelper Slides the X carriage slowly end to end and reports any rough spot.

What you're looking at

The first real function test of the gantry as a mechanism. Even, light resistance the whole way means both rails are centred and both carriages sit square. Resistance growing towards one end is racking, a Ch 06 problem, not a rail problem.

pause Good stopping point · ~30 min since the last one

gantry upside down (motors up), X axis in and bolted to both Y carriages, running end to end without binding. It stays upside down into Ch 06. Belts still bagged, XY joint bolts still only lightly tightened — leave both alone.
