Step 06.14 — Bolt the first Z joint together¶

Do: From underneath, run one M5×40 SHCS up through the lower joint's bore into the M5 nut captive in the Z bearing block. Tighten lightly only: the joint must still articulate. Final torque is Ch 14 Step 14.6, hot.
Check
The bolt threads in freely by hand for most of its length, and the joint still rocks slightly when you push the gantry corner.
What you're looking at
One M5×40 runs up through the lower joint's bore into the M5 nut, turning the two blocks into one Z joint. It stays light on purpose: the joint must swivel while the gantry is squared, and gets full torque once, hot, in Ch 14.
