Step 12 of 39 · Chapter 07 — A/B belts and tensioning

Parts:
- the A belt · already on the bench
Do: Wrap the belt round the idler stack at the rear-left corner, smooth back on it, not the B motor pulley beside it. Turn it to run right along the rear extrusion towards the A drive.
Check
The B motor pulley is untouched and free to spin. The A belt runs along the rear extrusion at a constant height.
What you're looking at
The rear-left corner is the B drive unit, carrying two things at two heights: B's toothed motor pulley, and a plain bearing stack that belongs to the A belt. A wraps the plain stack only. Wrapping the pulley instead would lock the axes together.
