Step 07.27 — Pull both belts tight and equalise the tails¶
Step 27 of 39 with a helper · Chapter 07 — A/B belts and tensioning

Parts: none.
Do:
- Grab both belt ends with pliers and pull the belt tight, until the same length protrudes from the carriage on both belts.
- Pull one, then the other, then back again; they interact. Tuck the excess into the carriage.
Check
Tails match on the rule, and still match after moving the gantry through full XY travel. If one crept, back off its M3×8 and re-pull.
Helper Reads both tail lengths off the rule and says which belt sticks out further.
What you're looking at
This is where belt tension is really set; the tensioners only trim it. Because both belts and both paths are the same length, equal tail length protruding from the carriage is a direct measurement of equal tension.
