Step 07.7 — Set the two carriage stop screws to 3 mm¶

Do: In each carriage half, thread one M3×12 into the plain hole beside the belt slot on p.130, not the heat-set insert at the bottom. Stop when the head stands 3 mm off the plastic. Measure with the caliper depth blade.
Check
Both screws at 3 mm ±0.5 mm, and the same on both halves.
What you're looking at
These two M3×12 are stop screws rather than fasteners. The 3 mm of thread standing proud of each half sets how the two halves meet over the belt, so the two must match each other as well as the number.
