Parts:
- PTFE tube, 4 mm OD, 2 mm ID, 10 cm · consumable
- caliper · tool
- flush cutters · tool
Do: Push the PTFE down into the tool cartridge until it bottoms on the heatsink, then cut it so exactly 11 mm stands above the printed part. Cut square: a diagonal cut leaves a filament-catching step.
Check
Caliper across the stickout reads 11 mm. Push 1.75 mm filament through: it enters the hotend with no catch.
What you're looking at
The PTFE tube is the low-friction liner that guides filament from the extruder's outlet down into the hotend. 11 mm of stickout is the Clockwork 2 figure: the length that closes the gap between the two, so the filament cannot buckle under extrusion pressure.
Good stopping point · ~20 min since the last one
the tool cartridge is closed around the Revo, the four M3×8 studs are in, and the PTFE is cut to 11 mm. Bag it nozzle-up. Do not put a tool on the nozzle and do not stand the cartridge on its nozzle; both undo the hand-tight seat you just set.
