Step 10.29 — Meter the 24 V rail for shorts¶
Step 29 of 80 · Chapter 10 — Wiring and Checkpoint #1
(no image — see text)
Parts:
- multimeter · tool
Do:
- With the PSU unplugged, measure +V → −V at the PSU on the Ω range.
- Repeat across the Leviathan's Vin 24V, its Vin 24-48V and the USB adapter's 24 V input.
Check
Finite resistance that rises, hundreds of ohms climbing into the kΩ, the same at all three inputs. Nothing reads 0 Ω or beeps continuously.
What you're looking at
A resistance sanity check across the 24 V rail you have just wired, with no power anywhere. A shorted rail reads like a piece of wire; a healthy one climbs as the boards' input capacitors charge from the meter's own test current.
Good stopping point · ~25 min since the last one
24 V distribution complete: board supply, HV stepper supply, USB-adapter feed, HEATBED→SSR control pair, Fan2/Fan3 jumpers at 24 V, and every rail metered with no short. Nothing above deck touched yet.
