Parts:

  • the four Z belt covers · already on the bench
  • M3 hammerhead T-nut ×4 · Fasteners, Tools & Misc box
  • M3×6 BHCS ×4 · Fasteners, Tools & Misc box

Do: Drop an M3 hammerhead nut into the recess on the back of each cover and start an M3×6 BHCS into it from the front, two or three turns only, so the nut stays captive but free to rotate.

check Check

Nut captive, screw started, nut still able to turn, the head still reachable with a 2 mm hex once the cover is on.

helperHelper Counts four covers, four nuts and four screws onto the tray.

What you're looking at

A hammerhead T-nut drops straight into an extrusion slot from the face rather than rolling in from an end, then rotates a quarter turn under load to lock. Starting the screw keeps the nut captive in the cover's recess.
