Step 12.16 — Recovery only: reinstall Katapult on the Leviathan over DFU¶

Do: Skip this step unless the double-click of SW1 found no usb-katapult_… device. If you must: disconnect every other USB device from the Pi, press SW2 and SW1 together, release SW1 first, then SW2, and confirm lsusb shows ID 0483:df11 STMicroelectronics STM Device in DFU Mode. Then build Katapult:

after a press of SW1, lsusb shows ID 1d50:6177 OpenMoko, Inc. stm32f446xx and /dev/serial/by-id/ gains a usb-katapult_… entry.
What you're looking at
DFU is the USB bootloader baked into the STM32 chip at the factory. It cannot be erased, which makes it the recovery route when Katapult itself has been overwritten; holding the two buttons in that order forces the chip into it and dfu-util writes Katapult back.
with the same processor/clock/offset row you wrote down — Micro-controller Architecture: STMicroelectronics STM32, Processor model, Clock Reference (tick Enable extra low-level configuration options first if the line is absent), Application start offset = the offset you wrote down, Communication interface: USB (on PA11/PA12), Support bootloader entry on rapid double click of reset button, Enable Status LED, Status LED GPIO Pin: PE1. Q, Y, then flash it:

sudo dfu-util -d 0483:df11 -a 0 -s 0x08000000:mass-erase:force -D out/katapult.bin
Then go back to Step 12.14.
`mass-erase
force` wipes the board.** It removes Klipper too, so you must build and flash again afterwards or the mainboard will not enumerate as a Klipper device at all. src

the Leviathan is running your own Klipper build and still enumerates by its serial ID. Never stop between make and the flash: out/ is shared between the two boards, so a built binary that never reaches its board is rebuilt from config.leviathan before you go on — one make, but do it before touching the toolboard.
