Step 13.30 — PID tune the hotend at 245 °C with the part fan at 25 %¶
Step 30 of 54 · Chapter 13 — Initial startup
(no image — see text)
Parts: none.
Do: G28 first, because SAVE_CONFIG restarted the printer. Then set the part fan to 25 % and run the hotend calibration; about 5 minutes.
Send: G28
Send: M106 S64
Send: PID_CALIBRATE HEATER=extruder TARGET=245
... ~5 min ...
Recv: // PID parameters: pid_Kp=26.213 pid_Ki=1.304 pid_Kd=131.721
Send: SAVE_CONFIG
Send: M107
Check
Saved and restarted, with the new pid_Kp/Ki/Kd written into the auto-generated block.
What you're looking at
The same procedure on the hotend, with the part fan at 25 % on purpose: that fan is a disturbance the loop will face in every real print, so tuning against it produces constants that hold under printing conditions.
Tip
running the hotend PID with the part fan at 25 % is deliberate; it tunes for the disturbance the fan actually causes in a print.
