Step 13.34 — Hand off to Ch 06b: square the gantry, then re-tension A/B¶
Step 34 of 54 · Chapter 13 — Initial startup
Parts: none.
Do: Leave this chapter here and run Ch 06b gantry squaring, which needs exactly what you now have: a printer that homes and QGLs.
Check
Ch 06b's checkpoint is ticked and the A/B belts are back at its provisional tension.
What you're looking at
The diagram shows the A/B tensioners fully released, which is where gantry squaring begins. Squaring undoes belt tension, so Ch 07's tensioning was only provisional, Ch 06b puts back only a working tension, and final tension belongs to Ch 14.
Do not skip this even if QGL converged
a QGL that converges on a racked gantry is a levelled parallelogram. Ch 06b fully releases A/B belt tension and drops the lower Z joints, then leaves the gantry square, cold, with the A/B belts at a provisional tension. (survey §5.2 W1)
Tip
Final belt tensions are Ch 14 Steps 14.4–14.6: A/B 110 Hz, Z 140 Hz, both over 150 mm, cold with the door open.
Good stopping point · ~10 min since the last one
you are handed off to Ch 06b: A/B tension fully released, Z joints dropped, gantry squared cold to the manual's procedure and the A/B belts back at a provisional tension. Come back to 13.35 with Checkpoint 06b ticked. Do not re-run QGL until A/B tension is restored.
