Step 13.37 — Sanity-check Z=0¶
Step 37 of 54 · Chapter 13 — Initial startup
(no image — see text)
Parts:
- the same sheet of paper · tool
Do: G28, then G0 X175 Y175 Z0 F1200. Slide the paper under the nozzle.
Check
The paper drags but is not pinned or torn, and the nozzle has not touched the PEI; at Z0 it sits one paper-thickness above it.
What you're looking at
The same sheet of paper, now a check rather than a measurement: the nozzle is commanded to the Z=0 you just saved and the paper should behave the same way. A larger position_endstop puts the nozzle closer to the bed.
Tip
if it is wrong, re-run Step 13.36; do not hand-edit position_endstop yet. Increasing [stepper_z] position_endstop brings the nozzle closer to the bed, so −0.700 is closer than −0.750.
Good stopping point · ~20 min since the last one
re-heated, re-QGL'd after squaring, Z_ENDSTOP_CALIBRATE done at the paper-drag height, and Z=0 sanity-checked at the bed centre. SAVE_CONFIG run and committed. The machine now knows where the bed is.
