Step 13.43 — Shut down properly¶
Step 43 of 54 with a helper · Chapter 13 — Initial startup
(no image — see text)
Parts: none.
Do:
- Commit the config:
cd ~/printer_data/config && git add -A && git commit -m "Ch 13 done: PID, Z endstop, mesh, rotation_distance", thenscpthe directory to the laptop. - Use the web interface's Shutdown, wait for the Pi's activity LED to go dark, then switch the machine off at the inlet.
Check
git log on the Pi lists the Ch 12 baseline and every SAVE_CONFIG since, and a copy of the directory is off the Pi's SD card.
Helper Watches the Pi's green activity LED and says when it has stayed dark.
What you're looking at
The Pi is a computer with a filesystem that can be corrupted by losing power mid-write. Shutting the host down first and only then cutting mains is the ordinary rule for any Linux machine, and the file at risk holds every calibration in this chapter.
Caution
Pulling power on a running Pi corrupts the SD card and costs you Ch 12 all over again.
Good stopping point · ~30 min since the last one
extruder rotation distance set, the Voron cube sliced, printed and its first-layer squish dialled, and the machine shut down properly. Ready for Checkpoint 13, then Ch 11 Part B.
