Ch 14 › Part A — Heaters1 / 36

Step 14.1 — Pre-flight the config before you tune anything

Step 1 of 36 with a helper · Chapter 14 — Calibration and tuning

(no image — see text)

Parts: none.

Do: Open printer.cfg and confirm these four sections before any of them generates a number.

check Check

STATUS is clean, both MCUs connected, and chamber, hotend and bed all read within a couple of degrees of the room.

helperHelper Reads each Must hold value aloud while the adult finds it in printer.cfg.

What you're looking at

Nothing to look at. You are reading four config sections before letting any of them generate numbers. The thermistor type, the pull-up resistor and the temperature ceiling all live in [extruder], and a wrong value in any makes every PID constant wrong with it.

Section Must hold
[extruder] sensor_type: ATC Semitec 104NT-4-R025H42G, pullup_resistor: 2200, max_temp: 270, gear_ratio: 50:10, and your measured rotation_distance from Ch 13 Step 13.40. 22.6789511 is only the Clockwork 2 starting point; do not put it back
[heater_bed] max_power: 0.6 and control: pid
[resonance_tester] accel_chip: adxl345 and the live probe_points: 175, 175, 20
[input_shaper] present, both shaper_freq lines still commented. Do not delete it

Caution

A hotend reading 20 °C off the bed at rest means a wrong sensor_type, and every PID number you generate will be wrong with it.

tip Tip

E3D's 60 W HeaterCore uses the Semitec 104NT-4-R025H42G and is rated to 300 °C, so max_temp: 270 is a deliberate ceiling below the hardware limit.

Caution

Rev D+ / LDO: These values come from leviathan-printer-rev-d-**sbv2**.cfg, not leviathan-printer-rev-d.cfg. If [extruder] sensor_pin reads nhk:gpio29 instead of nhk:PB12 you are on the V1 config and must go back to Ch 12 before doing anything thermal. src
