Ch 14 › Part H — Add-on: chamber exhaust fan34 / 36

Step 14.34 — Test the fan by target, then on a hot chamber

Step 34 of 36 · Chapter 14 — Calibration and tuning

Parts: none.

Do:

  1. Send the first three lines: air blows out of the housing, then stops.
  2. Door shut, M140 S110; log chamber_temp once settled, up to 45 min.
  3. Send the next two; the fan runs, then stops. Send the last two.

Check

The settled chamber is still in the 50–60 °C band, and at ceiling 45, bed off, the fan runs and stops near 43 °C.

What you're looking at

With a ceiling set, the fan starts 2 °C above it and stops 2 °C below, reading the toolhead's chamber sensor. The bed is the heat source, and the soak also proves the closed housing does not cost ASA its chamber band.

Exhaust fan — switches at its ceiling, and ASA still soaks — the calculator needs JavaScript; the limits are in the table on this page.

Caution

The bed reaches 110 °C. Hands off the plate until it reads under 40 °C again.

Good stopping point · ~35 min since the last one

the exhaust in printer.cfg, the fan proved by target and on a hot chamber, heaters off, ceiling 0, idle timeout back at 1800.
