You can pick a BHCS out of a bag by its dome and an SHCS by its straight cylinder without reading a label.
Helper Picks one of each fastener out of the bags and lays it beside its name on the page.
What you're looking at
Manual p.7, the first half of the fastener vocabulary, each drawn beside its name. BHCS is a domed button head, SHCS a plain cylinder, FHCS a countersunk cone. Every Parts: line in this manual uses these names exactly.
| Name | What it is |
|---|---|
| BHCS | domed head, mostly M5 |
| SHCS | cylindrical head, the most common fastener in the machine |
| FHCS | countersunk cone head, flat top |
| Self-tapping | screwed straight into plastic |
| Hex nut | M3 and M5 |
| Heat-set insert | brass, melted in |
| T-nut, roll-in | drops into an extrusion slot after assembly, used everywhere |
| Hammerhead nut | used exclusively for panel mounting; everything else takes a T-nut |
