Ch 08 › E — Nitehawk-SB V2 and the fan adapter45 / 65

Step 08.45 — Check the fan-voltage solder jumpers before anything is powered

Step 45 of 65 with a helper · Chapter 08 — Toolhead: Stealthburner, Clockwork 2, Revo HF, Nitehawk-SB V2

Parts:

  • the fan adapter PCB · already on the bench
  • magnifier · tool
  • multimeter · tool

Do: Confirm both selectors, silkscreened 24V V_HEF 5V and 24V V_PCF 5V, are on the 24 V side. Both your fans are 24 V per the Rev D 350 BOM. LDO's 5 V conversion cuts the trace and solders a bridge: do neither. Cut nothing.

check Check

By meter: both selectors continuous from the middle pad to 24V, open to 5V. The factory trace is too thin to see. (verify on bench)

helperHelper Reads the meter aloud at each selector while you hold the probes.

What you're looking at

The two three-pad groups are solder jumpers: each chooses 24 V or 5 V for its fan port, by which outer pad joins the middle. From the factory that join is a hair-thin PCB trace, not a solder blob. Both fans are 24 V.

tip Tip

the factory default is 24 V on both selectors.
