Ch 08 › E — Nitehawk-SB V2 and the fan adapter46 / 65

Step 08.46 — Plug the fans and the LED chain into the adapter

Step 46 of 65 · Chapter 08 — Toolhead: Stealthburner, Clockwork 2, Revo HF, Nitehawk-SB V2

Parts:

  • the hotend fan, 5015 and LED chain leads · already on the bench

Do: Three JST-PH2.0 3-pin plugs, one per port:

check Check

All three plugs fully home, latch engaged, no wire in tension. P2 to the axial, P4 to the blower.

What you're looking at

Three JST-PH2.0 3-pin plugs, one per port; the middle pin on each fan port is the tacho line, reporting real RPM to Klipper. The classic error is swapping P2 and P4: both fans run, but the machine cools the hotend instead of the print.

Port What plugs in Pinout, silkscreen order
P2 4010 axial hotend fan + / A1 (tacho) / −
P3 Neopixel LED chain 5V / GND / RGB
P4 5015 part cooling blower − / A2 (tacho) / +

If you ever re-crimp a fan lead, take the polarity from the silkscreen next to the port, not from the fan's wire colours.

Conflict

LDO's graphic nhsbv2_pcb_pinout.jpg labels the Fan/RGB header PA15 → HEF and PD0 → PCF; the adapter silkscreen and the Rev D+ Klipper config say the opposite, [fan] on nhk:PA15 tacho nhk:PD2, [heater_fan hotend_fan] on nhk:PD0 tacho nhk:PD1. Two of three agree, so wire by port function, P2 axial and P4 blower. If Ch 13's Verify Fans spins the wrong fan, swap the pin: values in printer.cfg. Do not re-crimp connectors. src

pause Good stopping point · ~20 min since the last one

the Nitehawk-SB V2 and the fan adapter are mounted, both fan-voltage selectors are verified at 24 V, and the three PH2.0 fan and LED plugs are in. Do not mate the board-to-board header yet — that happens with the Stealthburner body at Step 08.62 — and do not cut or bridge a voltage-selector pad.
