Step 08.63 — Park the umbilical on the chain anchor — chain ties are Ch 10¶
Step 63 of 65 · Chapter 08 — Toolhead: Stealthburner, Clockwork 2, Revo HF, Nitehawk-SB V2
Parts:
- the toolhead cable · already on the bench
- zip tie, 3×150 mm ×1 · consumable
Do: Lay the cable over the chain anchor from 08.25. Put one loose zip tie through its tab, loose enough that the cable still slides. Coil and label the free end. Chain ties are Ch 10 Steps 10.59 and 10.66.
Check
The cable leaves over the anchor, not over a fan or belt; the coil hangs clear of the bed; nothing pulls the XT30.
What you're looking at
A service loop is deliberate slack: enough spare cable between the anchor and the chain that the umbilical is never in tension at either end of X travel. Wires held taut inside a moving drag chain work-harden and break.
Caution
Rev D+ / LDO: taut wires inside a drag chain fatigue and break — it is LDO's most repeated warning, and manual p.194–195 says the same. The cable must be pulled through the chain before the chain ends are mounted in Ch 10; doing it after means taking the chain apart (survey §5.2 W7).
