Step 08.64 — Set the USB adapter aside with the right cover¶
Step 64 of 65 with a helper · Chapter 08 — Toolhead: Stealthburner, Clockwork 2, Revo HF, Nitehawk-SB V2
Parts:
- USB Adapter PCB ×1 · Electronics 2 box
- NH Adapter Mount ×1 · Electronics 2 box
-
usb_adapter_mount_partial_cover.stl(Nitehawk-SB-V2 repo) ×1 · bin 08-CW2 - M3×10 SHCS ×3 · the kit, no 350 BOM row
Do: Stack the USB adapter into its mount base and close it with the V2 partial cover, not the full V1 usb_adapter_mount.stl cover. It exposes the point for the adapter-to-frame ground lead, Step 10.58. Bag the assembly for Ch 09.
Check
One mounting screw head is exposed and reachable through the cover. The board's 24V IN terminal and its 4-pin Micro-Fit 3.0 umbilical socket are both accessible.
Helper Checks that one screw head shows through the cover, then labels the bag for Ch 09.
What you're looking at
The USB adapter PCB is the frame-side end of the umbilical: 24 V goes in, and the toolhead cable comes out as a USB connection to the Pi. The V2 partial cover leaves one screw exposed so a ring lug can bolt to it.
Caution
Rev D+ / LDO: the Nitehawk-SB-V2 repo's STLs/ folder contains exactly one file, usb_adapter_mount_partial_cover.stl, and it is the cover this kit needs (print plan §0, correction #1). B07 also prints the V1 Nitehawk-SB/STLs/usb_adapter_mount.stl — for a spare base only. src
