Step 10.38 — Route the LED lead down to the deck and close the slots

Step 38 of 80 · Chapter 10 — Wiring and Checkpoint #1

Parts:

  • LED STRIP cable ×1 · the Cable Kit box
  • extrusion slot cover, 6 mm, up to 9 · consumable

Do:

  1. Run the junction PCB's third lead along the top rear extrusion slot, down a rear vertical extrusion, and into the deck.
  2. Press the 6 mm slot covers over every slot the cable occupies. Do this now.

check Check

No cable is visible outside a covered slot, and nothing crosses the gantry's Z travel.

What you're looking at

Extrusion slot covers are the flexible plastic strips that press into an empty extrusion groove; here they hide and protect the LED cable along its whole route down to the deck. Ch 11's top panel and Z-belt covers close this path for good.

Alternative: you may instead route through the Z-motor A opening; if you do, print the alternate Z-belt cover z_belt_cover_a_led.stl for Ch 11. Decide now, not in Ch 11. src
