Ch 10 › Section 5 — Leviathan connections40 / 80

Step 10.40 — Tag every stepper cable before you plug anything in

Step 40 of 80 with a helper · Chapter 10 — Wiring and Checkpoint #1

gather Gather for this segment — steps 10.40–10.46 (~30 min)

The Cable Kit box

  • Bed TH cable ×1

Tools and consumables

  • cable tag ×7

Already on the bench

  • the A motor's lead
  • the B motor's lead
  • the four Z motor leads
  • the two 3-pin ends of the XY endstop cable
  • the Z endstop cable

Parts:

  • cable tag ×7 · consumable

Do: Transcribe the table below onto tags and fit one to each motor cable at the board end. Positions are given "as if standing in front of an upright printer and looking towards it."

check Check

Seven tags written, six cables tagged, and you can trace each cable back to the motor it came from without guessing.

helperHelper Writes the seven tags from the table and hands each one over for its cable.

What you're looking at

Six identical 4-pin motor cables arrive at the board and nothing about them says which corner each came from. LDO's mapping photo names every port on the Leviathan; the diagram shows both HV-STEPPER ports and STEPPER-0..3 by corner, and which ports stay empty.

Stepper Physical position Controller port
A rear right of gantry HV-STEPPER-1
B rear left of gantry HV-STEPPER-0
Z0 front left STEPPER-0
Z1 rear left STEPPER-1
Z2 rear right STEPPER-2
Z3 front right STEPPER-3
(not used) — STEPPER-4
Revali plugging in a cable
Tag every cable before it goes in. An anonymous connector is a fault that gets to hide.
