Step 10.42 — B motor → HV-STEPPER-0

Step 42 of 80 · Chapter 10 — Wiring and Checkpoint #1

Parts:

  • the B motor's lead · already on the bench

Do: Plug the B motor, rear left, into HV-STEPPER-0, the other 5160 port. Route the lead with A's: notch, right run, middle run.

check Check

A and B are in the two 5160 ports and nowhere else. A 2209 would badly under-drive the motor.

What you're looking at

HV-STEPPER-0 is the other TMC5160 socket. A and B are the two rear-corner motors that between them produce every X and Y move, so both belong on the high-current drivers; the five STEPPER-n sockets alongside are weaker TMC2209s.

On LDO's layout, if your B motor cable is too short to follow the mapping photo, LDO publishes an alternate route: alternate B-motor mapping and B-motor cable wiring. Take the alternate route rather than pulling the cable tight. src

Layout v3

this route adds about 129 mm to B over LDO's route; B11.9 confirmed the lead reaches with spare, or a longer replacement lead was made (verify on bench). LDO layout: follow S1_mapping.jpg, and the alternate below if B is short. LDO § Connecting steppers
