Step 10.43 — Z0–Z3 → STEPPER-0 to STEPPER-3

Step 43 of 80 with a helper · Chapter 10 — Wiring and Checkpoint #1

Parts:

  • the four Z motor leads · already on the bench

Do: Working left to right along the 2209 header row as S1_mapping.jpg shows it, STEPPER-3, STEPPER-2, STEPPER-1, STEPPER-0, plug in Z3 front right, Z2 rear right, Z1 rear left, Z0 front left. Leave STEPPER-4 empty; the extruder lives on the toolboard.

check Check

Four connectors, four tags, and each tag's physical position matches the corner its cable physically runs to. STEPPER-4 is empty.

helperHelper Reads each tag aloud and names the corner its cable runs to before it is plugged in.

What you're looking at

STEPPER-0 to STEPPER-3 are four of those TMC2209 sockets, one per Z motor, Z0–Z3 being the four corners that lift the gantry independently. STEPPER-4 would carry the extruder on a normal build; here the extruder motor is driven by the toolboard instead, so it stays empty.

Verification deferred: the definitive test is STEPPER_BUZZ per motor in Ch 13. If a corner buzzes that you did not name, swap the two cables — do not edit the config.
