Step 51 of 67 · Chapter 11 — Skirts, panels, Clicky-Clack door, filtration

(no image — see mod README § Assembly)

Parts:

  • the handle and both handle hinges · already on the bench
  • M5×45 dowel pin ×2 · Clicky-Clack door kit
  • M5×7×8 split bushing ×2 · Clicky-Clack door kit
  • M3×8 SHCS ×2 · Clicky-Clack door kit

Do:

  1. Push the two M5×45 pins into the handle, looser than the door hinges.
  2. Tap one bushing into each handle hinge.
  3. Drive the two M3×8 locating screws into the handle ends, then slide the hinges on.

check Check

Handle hinges slide on and stay put by magnet alone; the handle rotates through its full arc and stops against the locating screws; nothing binds.

What you're looking at

The handle hangs on two more M5×45 pins, deliberately looser than the door hinges so it can swing. The two M3×8 screws at its ends are travel stops, not fasteners: they limit how far the handle rotates.
