Step 11.51 — Foam-tape the front opening

Step 52 of 67 with a helper · Chapter 11 — Skirts, panels, Clicky-Clack door, filtration

(no image — see KB3D guide § Frame Assembly)

Parts:

  • 3 mm foam tape · consumable

Do: Run 3 mm foam tape around the front face of the four front-opening extrusions, along their inboard edge. Hold the door frame dry against it and tape the surface it lands on. Butt the corners; do not overlap.

check Check

Continuous, unbroken seal on all four sides of the opening, no overlaps standing proud, no gaps at the corners.

helperHelper Peels the foam tape backing a hand's length ahead as you press it down.

What you're looking at

The 3 mm foam runs on the front face of the front opening's extrusions, the face the closed door frame presses against, not the chamber-side face. Butting the corners rather than overlapping keeps the seal one thickness everywhere.

pause Good stopping point · ~20 min since the last one

end of Part A. Handle, latch and handle-hinge magnets glued and curing, the latch heat-set and panel clip fitted, and the front opening foam-taped. Do not fit the back, side or top panels: Ch 13 needs every face open. Go to Ch 13.
