Step 12.18 — Flash the Nitehawk with make flash¶
Step 18 of 37 · Chapter 12 — Software: Pi OS image, Klipper/Moonraker/Mainsail, firmware, printer.cfg
(no image — see text)
Parts: none.
Do: The recommended path needs no buttons at all:
cd ~/klipper
sudo service klipper stop
make KCONFIG_CONFIG=config.nitehawk flash FLASH_DEVICE=/dev/serial/by-id/usb-Klipper_stm32g0b1xx_<id>-if00
sudo service klipper start
Check
the flash completes without error, and ls /dev/serial/by-id/ still shows usb-Klipper_stm32g0b1xx_<id>-if00. If the board does not come back, reboot the printer before assuming anything is broken.
What you're looking at
make flash builds nothing new; it hands the binary you just compiled to the board's Katapult bootloader over the serial path you name. Same operation as step 12.15, wrapped up so no buttons are involved.
Use the stm32g0b1xx ID you recorded in Step 12.12. (Every future toolboard update is this same line after make KCONFIG_CONFIG=config.nitehawk; the Leviathan's is its own flashtool.py line after make KCONFIG_CONFIG=config.leviathan.)
