Step 12.2 — Write MainsailOS with Raspberry Pi Imager¶
Step 2 of 37 · Chapter 12 — Software: Pi OS image, Klipper/Moonraker/Mainsail, firmware, printer.cfg
Parts:
- the kit's 32 GB microSD card · consumable
- SD card reader · tool
Do:
- Insert the card, launch Raspberry Pi Imager, Choose Device → Raspberry Pi 4.
- Choose OS → Other specific-purpose OS → 3D printing → MainsailOS → 64-bit.
- Choose Storage → the SD card; read the description twice.
Check
The summary line names your Pi model, MainsailOS 64-bit, and the correct removable drive.
What you're looking at
MainsailOS is a ready-made Pi disk image carrying Klipper, which runs the machine, Moonraker, the API in front of it, and Mainsail, the web page you drive it from. The screenshots walk the Imager's menus to it.
Caution
Rev D+ / LDO: LDO's wiring guide tells you to install Raspberry Pi OS Lite (32-bit) and add Klipper/Moonraker/Mainsail with KIAUH. MainsailOS ships those plus Crowsnest, Sonar, Timelapse and the input-shaper dependencies, pre-wired: same end state, four fewer passes. Take the MainsailOS path; you need KIAUH in Step 12.8 for KlipperScreen, which MainsailOS does not include. src · src
