Step 13.10 — Part cooling fan (Stealthburner top fan)¶
Step 10 of 54 · Chapter 13 — Initial startup
(no image — see text)
Parts: none.
Do: Send M106 S255, then M107.
Check
The top fan spins to full and you feel air under the nozzle; M107 stops it.
What you're looking at
The top fan is the part-cooling fan. It blows down through the printed ducts onto the plastic just laid, and only the slicer or a manual M106 turns it on. Nothing about the hotend's temperature affects it.
Tip
this is [fan] on nhk:PA15; off_below: 0.10 commands zero below 10 %, which is expected. If the bottom fan answers M106, apply Step 13.9's fix, then set the Extruder target to Off.
Caution
Rev D+ / LDO: the 2×5 (10-pin) board-to-board header between the Stealthburner fan adapter and the toolboard has reversed gender and is keyed on Rev D+. If a toolhead fan does nothing at all, do not press the connector harder — check that it seated with the key, not against it. (survey §4.1 ④)
