Step 13.9 — Hotend fan (Stealthburner bottom fan)

Step 9 of 54 · Chapter 13 — Initial startup

(no image — see text)

Parts: none.

Do: Set the Extruder target to 50 again and leave it there for this step and the next.

check Check

The bottom fan spins up as soon as the hotend is active and stays on above 50 °C.

What you're looking at

The Stealthburner's bottom fan is the hotend fan. It cools the heatsink above the nozzle and runs automatically whenever the hotend is hot, with nobody commanding it. A hotend heated with this fan dead will jam within one print.

Caution

If the top 5015 fan answers the hotend instead, and the bottom fan answers M106 at Step 13.10, exchange pin: nhk:PD0 and pin: nhk:PA15 between [heater_fan hotend_fan] and [fan], move the commented tachometer_pin lines PD1/PD2 with them, RESTART, and re-run 13.9–13.10. Do not re-plug P2/P4 or re-crimp anything.

tip Tip

this fan is [heater_fan hotend_fan] on nhk:PD0 with heater_temp: 50.0. A hotend fan that does not run will clog the hotend on your first print.
