Step 13.17 — QUERY_ENDSTOPS with everything released¶
Step 17 of 54 with a helper · Chapter 13 — Initial startup
(no image of your own printer yet — simulated printer: your numbers differ)
Parts: none.
Do:
- Put a hand under the gantry, send
M84, and lower it to a third of its travel, nozzle about 100 mm above the plate. - Push the toolhead to the middle of the bed by hand, then send
QUERY_ENDSTOPS.
Send: QUERY_ENDSTOPS
Recv: // stepper_x:open stepper_y:open stepper_z:open
Check
All three read open. A TRIGGERED reading with nothing pressing it is a wiring fault, not a missing !.
Helper Reads the endstop states off the screen and calls each one back.
What you're looking at
QUERY_ENDSTOPS reports each limit switch's present state without moving anything at all. open means the switch is not pressed. Stock Voron endstops are wired normally-closed to ground, so a TRIGGERED reading on an untouched switch means a broken circuit, not a reversed one.
Caution
M84 releases all seven motors, and the Z motors are the only thing holding the gantry: keep a hand under it. This, Step 13.24 and the QGL max_adjust What-if row are the only places M84 is right; elsewhere disable just stepper_x/stepper_y with SET_STEPPER_ENABLE and leave Z holding.
Caution
Rev D+ / LDO: if your XY endstop cables are labelled "X Stop / Y Stop" instead of "XES / YES", you have the mis-pinned batch and both X and Y will misbehave here. Re-pin per LDO's guide before going further. src (survey §4.4 #14)
