Step 13.18 — X endstop by hand

Step 18 of 54 with a helper · Chapter 13 — Initial startup

(no image — see text)

Parts: none.

Do: Push the toolhead all the way to the right until you hear the endstop pod click, hold it there, and send QUERY_ENDSTOPS.

Send: QUERY_ENDSTOPS
Recv: // stepper_x:TRIGGERED stepper_y:open stepper_z:open

check Check

Only stepper_x changes, and it returns to open when you push the toolhead back to the middle.

helperHelper Sends QUERY_ENDSTOPS while the adult holds the toolhead on the switch, then reads the reply aloud.

What you're looking at

The X endstop is one of the two microswitches on the gantry pod, pressed by the toolhead at the right-hand end of its travel. Pushing it by hand tests the switch, its cable and its board port as one chain, with no motor involved.

tip Tip

if the toolhead cannot reach the switch, look for a rubber rail stopper still on the rail, then for a racked gantry.
