Ch 14 › Part H — Add-on: chamber exhaust fan36 / 36

Step 14.36 — Print PLA under a 35 °C ceiling, log it, shut down

Step 36 of 36 · Chapter 14 — Calibration and tuning

(no image — see text)

Parts:

  • PLA, about 50 g · consumable

Do:

  1. Print an hour-long PLA part from the Voron PLA preset, door shut.
  2. Every 15 min, log chamber_temp and whether the fan runs.
  3. Commit the config, copy it off the Pi, and shut down as at 13.43.

Check

From 20 min in, chamber_temp stays at or under 37 °C. After the print the fan runs about 10 min, then stops.

What you're looking at

The proof is a real PLA print with the door shut: the chamber should sit near the ceiling while the fan cycles. Voron's own notes warn that PLA may still need the door open; this print finds out.

Caution

If the chamber passes 37 °C with the fan flat out, take one mat layer out and print again. Past that, print PLA with the door ajar.

Tip

the sensor rides on the toolhead and reads warm, so the chamber itself runs a little under the ceiling. A thermometer hung mid-chamber shows by how much.

Good stopping point · ~30 min since the last one

PLA printed under the ceiling with the chamber logged, the purge run and stopped, the config committed and copied off the Pi, and the machine shut down properly.
